In 1975 Nicholas Nixon started photographing his wife Bebe and her three sisters every year, once a year. Always in the same order; Heather, Mimi, Bebe, Laurie.

    They look still young.

Something tells me these girls were not very well liked…they all look like they just buried there stepbrother..and no body is saying a word!!!

  • Poster

They’re all beautiful, but for some reason, I felt like they aged rather quickly between the years of 1975-1980.

Beautiful photos. Lovely way to remember each family member. Ladies you look lovely. God bless you

  • Percy

Fantastic idea, but that’s the angriest looking group of sisters I have ever seen. They look like they hate life. I sincerely hope they were happier when they weren’t being photographed.

Its interesting that someone has decided to put this series on the internet but I’m
not sure that it should have been done. I believe the original pictures were taken
on a large view camera and when you see the prints made from these it is the
amount of detail and tonal graduation that makes these photos truly stunning.

Small reproductions of the photos viewed through a web browser do not give
you an accurate idea of just how good they are as photographs and as portraits
    of real people.

By the way Percy they don’t look angry. They just don’t have the forced inane
grins that you see in so many photographs of people.

Wow, what a happy-looking family: such captivating smiles.

These are very good photos. May God always keep them together and healthy.
    God bless you all.

The photos are beautiful, the candles every year, the time printing their brands, gave me the feeling that life began here. Life goes on between us. God bless you.

Have to be honest, these ladies need to have a 10 out of 10 for staying together each year and looking wonderful. Personally the one that stands out, although this is terrable to say but I’d of married her! is No 3, the lady with the long curlish hair. My God what presence! Here’s to the next thirty years girls…..or could I be so rude as to say mature women!
