Meet Lucy And Marie. They Might Look Totally Different But They Are Actually Twin Sisters

August 18, 2015 | No Comments » | Topics: Interesting

Some twins are hard to tell apart. But in the case of Maria and Lucy, it’s even harder to think they come from the same parents. Even their mom Donna couldn’t believe her eyes when the midwife handed her two babies — one black, the other white.

The biological twins are born to an inter-racial family. Their father is Caucasian and their mother is Jamaican. Their siblings look like typical mixed race children, but no one can explain why Maria and Lucy look like the opposite ends of the spectrum. Maria is dark-skinned while Lucy is pale. Their siblings’ complexions are somewhere in-between the twin’s colors.

The bi-racial twins grew up very close. They knew they were different from other twins. The pair got used to people’s different reactions when they were found out to be biological sisters and born just a few minutes apart.

Maria has curly, black hair and deep brown eyes. Lucy has ginger-red hair and blue eyes. No matter how contrasting they look, deep inside the twins know their personalities and interests are very much the same.

The twins grew up in a big family with three other siblings – two brothers and a sister. Their parents have always made them feel special about their mixed race lineage.

Donna and Lucy say it’s sometimes hard to prove to strangers and new acquaintances that they are indeed fraternal twins. And it’s not hard to see why — mixed raced twins are an extreme rarity.

“Whenever I tell people that Lucy is my twin, they stare at me in disbelief or they think I’m just joking. But to be really honest, I don’t think my sister and I are that different at all. It’s just skin-deep,” says Maria.
