1. Remember that your puppy’s main goal is to ensure you’re happy, so remember to be thankful for that !
2. You will have a friend for life!
Over the course of three years, Jared Piper saw a dog chained up all day, every day in a backyard with no human interaction. In Phoenix, Arizona, summer temperatures reach 120 degrees – the dog was still left alone outside.
One day he decided he’s had enough of this cruelty, and told the dog’s owner he wasn’t leaving without her dog. This is what happened…
On May 6, 2014, nine beagles had a very special day. One that would change their lives forever.
Each of these nine beagles has spent its entire life in a cage at a laboratory. Until this day, these beagles had never known a kind touch, been loved, or felt safe. They didn’t have names, just federal ID numbers.
This is a story of the right person, in the right place, at the right time. Rock Hill real estate agent Casey Lawrence found the injured Pit Bull dumped in the woods after getting lost while showing a property. The dog was discarded and left to die after likely being used as a bait dog by dog fighters. He was surrounded by bones and animal carcasses!
Fortunately, Casey found the dog, now named Rambo, in time! She rushed Rambo to Baxter Veterinary Clinic. Rambo was covered with bite marks and lacerations and was severely injured, and his leg wounds infected with gangrene.
Sometimes, Christmas comes early. At a California animal shelter this year, it did for a lucky dog. On December 10th, one pit bull puppy got the second chance at life he so desperately needed.
Carson Animal Care Center is an animal shelter that serves Los Angeles, CA and the surrounding areas. It’s also the home to many abandoned dogs and cats. Carson’s pit bull population is often passed over for other adoptable animals, thanks to rampant pervasive pit bull discrimination. Sadly, Carson is a high-kill shelter.
Pit bulls are mistaken for an aggressive breed, but young Benny is quite obviously just the opposite. Shelter workers described him as timid and even shy – and for weeks, no one gave him a second glance. The sweet boy was essentially sitting on death row.
That is, until a rescuer spotted the gorgeous dog and decided to give him the home he deserved. If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that Benny won’t stay shy for long – we’ve seen rescue dogs transform right before our eyes in the past!
You can find out more about the animals still waiting for their forever home at theCarson Shelter Facebook page.
When Tillie the golden retriever and Phoebe the basset hound didn’t return from a walk on Vashon Island, Washington, in early September, their owner contacted Vashon Island Pet Protectors in a desperate attempt to find their beloved dogs.
A stranger soon contacted the organization reporting that Tillie had been seen on their property trying to attract human attention.
It’s been hard for Mary and Roberto Westbrook’s three year-old son Luke to understand that the family dog will not be coming home.
At the age of 13, Moe the beagle passed away. One day, Luke asked his mom if he could write a letter to Moe. Doing so became a bit of a mother-and-son ritual. The usual message: “I miss you. Hope you’re having fun in doggie heaven.”
