This 8-Year-Old Boy Was Bullied For 2 Years While Growing His Hair To Donate To Kids With Cancer
When Christian McPhilamy was six years old, he was inspired by a commercial for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and decided he wanted to help young people with cancer. He decided that day that he wanted to grow his hair long and donate it to make wigs for children with cancer.
So for 2 and a half years, Christian grew his hair out. He was made fun of at school for it, often mistaken for a girl, but that never deterred him from doing what he thought was right.
“Even out and about or at a park, he would be playing with a bunch of boys and they’d be like, ‘you look like a girl.’ And he would just explain to them. He held his head high and he never once said that he wanted to cut it off ever,” Christian’s mom said.
Even though it made him feel sad when he heard those remarks, it never stopped him from helping young people with cancer.
We applaud Christian for stepping up and doing what he could to make the lives of others better. The world needs more of that.
