With the wonders of modern technology, we can now pause, rewind and re-watch our favorite TV moments to our heart’s content. 1. The Justice League of America
Who didn’t love the episode where the gang attended a New Year’s Eve party at the comic book store dressed as the Justice League. Penny’s boyfriend at the time, Zac, even joined in and played a very convincing-looking Superman! And Penny herself made a damn fine Wonder Woman!
2. Two cameos in Howard’s bedroom
Remember when Howard first started dating Bernadette but they hadn’t been intimate yet? And the resulting hilarious fantasies he had involving Katie Sackoff and George Takei? Culminating in the lucky Howard being sandwiched between Katie and Bernadette in his bed, while George looks on with his trademark grin.
3. Leonard and his mother finally hug… for real
One of the tenderest moments in the entire series run sees Leonard forgive his mother for his cold parenting style and the two embrace in a genuine expression of emotion. If this scene did not bring a tear to your eye, then you are even colder than Beverly Hofstadter!
4. Howard and Raj “kiss”
It was a pleasant evening with two best friends and one of their girlfriends in a quiet telescope room. Some wine and board games happened. Then Raj started to feel down on himself, prompting Bernadette to offer some kind words. Then he tried to kiss her and Howard jumped in front of her. The rest is purely pausable TV history.
5. Penny gets addicted to online gaming
Penny is famously the most beautiful character on TBBT. So, what happens when she becomes hooked on Age of Conan and stops working, or even showering? She eats Cheetos out of her own hair and creates a TV moment that must be paused to be believed.
6. Carrie Fisher and her baseball bat
When Sheldon tracks down James Earl Jones at his favorite sushi restaurant to ask him to help get his own comic book convention happening, he did not expect the wildest night of his life. Karaoke, a strip club, a Ferris wheel, and pranking Carrie Fisher. The actress emerges from her home enraged and brandishing a baseball bat after James rings her doorbell and runs away, with Sheldon in tow.
7. Sheldon hugs Penny for the first time
In a true Saturnalia miracle, Sheldon is so overcome with gratitude for the gift Penny presents him with, that he is compelled to hug her for the very first time. And that is after showering her with a ludicrous display of bath gift baskets. The gift in question? A napkin that had been signed by his hero, Leonard Nimoy.
8. Howard and Bernadette’s wedding
The scene could not be more beautiful as the gang assembles on the roof of their building to celebrate the nuptials of Howard and Bernadette. Everyone looks stunning, and the decorations are perfect, thanks to Raj’s skills as an amateur party planner.
9. Sheldon proposes to Amy
It was a long time coming, but when Sheldon finally realised that Amy was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, the scene was breathtaking. Sheldon was down on one knee in Amy’s doorway, brandishing a ring. Magic.
10. The final couch scene
At the end of an era, after Sheldon and Amy win their Nobel Prizes and the gang returns home from Sweden, they all gather on the familiar couch to eat together. It is a scene that had occurred in many forms over the years, but this one is the most paused because it is the last time we will ever see this. It is comforting, bittersweet, and truly beautiful.
