If you can’t get enough of all those superhero series, then you’re probably pumped for the new Gotham Knights set to air on the CW sometime in 2023.
The show, which follows members of the Batman family after the death of patriarch Bruce Wayne, features an all-star cast including Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, who DC fans will recognize as Bluebird.
Here are 10 things you didn’t know about this up-and-coming actress:
1. She Decided to Pursue Acting After Taking Only One Class
In an interview, Fallon revealed that her mother’s friend was the one to put her in acting class. However, after only taking one class, she realized acting was for her.
Per Fallon, the experience was originally designed to make her feel more comfortable in her skin, but she soon developed a passion for the craft.
2. She Started Voiceover Work at the Age of 11
Though people may not have been able to recognize her on the screen yet, she was already lending her voice to TV and radio commercials nationwide. She even let her voice to toys.
Her voiceover career began after being discovered by world-renowned voiceover coach, Alice Whitfield. Whitfield is commonly known as the “Voice-Over Coach to the Stars.” After doing voiceover work for three years, she started to pursue acting, landing bit roles in both film and television.
3. She Was Miss Jr. Teen Nevada
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Fallon eventually went on to win the title of Miss Jr. Teen Nevada in 2011 when she was 13 years old.
4. She’s Passionate About Spreading Diabetes Awareness
A year before winning the title of Miss Jr. Teen Nevada, Fallon was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. After she won, she used her platform to become a junior ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International.
During her tenure there, she appeared and spoke at various events, galas, and fundraisers to spread awareness.
5. She Landed Her First Leading Role at the Age of 15
In 2015, Fallon landed the role of Sloane in the web series, S.H.R.I.E.K – a horror comedy show directed by Tommy Lynch about a group of paranormal-obsessed teens traveling the country in search of werewolves, banshees, and other scary mythical creatures.
The five-episode web series was produced by Hasbro and the Tom Lynch Company.
6. She Starred in a Hit Disney Show!
In 2014, she landed the role of Erin in two episodes of the hit Disney TV series, I Didn’t Do It. She appeared in both episode six and episode nine of the second season.
The show lasted from 2014-2015 and also launched the career of Disney darling, Olivia Holt.
7. She Starred in Lost in the West
In 2016, she starred as Lisa Waters/Luna in the first three episodes of the Nickelodeon mini-series Lost in the West. The show featured two stepbrothers accidentally traveling back in time to 1885.
It was a three-part comedy series that averaged over 1 million viewers each day it aired.
8. Her Character on Gotham Knights Will be Bisexual
To showcase more progression and inclusion, Fallon’s Harper Row will be bisexual, paying homage to the character’s sexual orientation in the comics.
When speaking about the role and joining the cast, Fallon said she was “…absolutely thrilled and honored.”
9. She’s Playing the Role of ‘Bluebird’ in Gotham Knights
In the upcoming CW show Gotham Knights, Fallon plays the role of Harper Row – aka Bluebird in the DC universe.
Fans of the comic book series will know her character best for taking over the role of Robin, assisting Batman while defending Gotham City as a vigilante.
In the comic book series, Harper Row is ultimately saved by Batman while trying to protect her brother, who was being assaulted for his sexuality.
While her character doesn’t have any telepathic powers like other comic book players, she is a kickboxer and holds expert knowledge in both mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as hand-to-hand combat, making her a great sidekick to Batman.
10. Her Brother is Also an Actor
Fallon’s younger brother, Robert Smythe, is also an actor. Born in 2000, Robert has already started to make a name for himself, starring in Attaway General, Juniors, and Scorpion.
He plays the role of Luther in the upcoming film, Keep Moving, which as of publication is currently in pre-production.
