Courtney Henggeler is an American actress who is known for her role as Missy Cooper, the twin sister of Sheldon Cooper of the popular television series The Big Bang Theory and most recently as Amanda LaRusso the wife of Daniel Larusso in the Netflix series Cobra Kai.
Background Info
She was born December 11, 1978, in Phillipsburg New Jersey, to William and Margaret Henggeler, where she attended Seaford High School graduating in 1997.
Courtney says that although her high school didn’t have a great theater program, she did every play that she possibly could.
After high school, Missy enrolled in New York State University at Fredonia, a liberal arts college where she eventually dropped out, much to her parents dismay.
She would got a summer job bartending, while taking acting classes in the city and a couple years later she would move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
Acting Career
In 2003 she would earn her first acting credit with her role as Susan Beth in the horror movie The Bog Creatures. In the movie she plays the part of an archeologists looking for relics in the swamps of Denmark.
The movie was a low budget production and was widely panned by audiences.
The Big Bang Theory
After a few minor roles in tv and commercials, Courtney would land her breakout role as Missy Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. She would appear in season 1, episode 15, ‘The Porkchop Indeterminacy’. She is introduced as Sheldon’s very attractive fraternal twin sister, much to everyone’s surprise and delight.
In the episode Leonard, Howard and Raj take turns in trying to woo her over, although they all fail in the attempts. Raj comes close to winning her over, however the medication that allows him to talk to women wears off and he ultimately fails. This will be only one of two episodes that she will be in.
The last time we see Missy Cooper is at Sheldon’s wedding in season 11, episode 24, ‘The Bow Tie Asymmetry’.
In the episode Missy is pregnant and not happy about it, and recently separated from her husband, she disappears into oblivion without a trace after this episode.
What did she do after The Big Bang Theory?
After The Big Bang Theory, Courtney would have quite a few minor roles on shows like NCIS, Criminal Minds and Bones and she would also have minor roles in movies like Friends with Benefits, Feed, and Nobody’s Fool.
From 2013 – 2015 Courtney would land a 5 episode stint on the CBS sitcom ‘Mom.’ She would play the character of Claudia, who is Gabriel’s snobby and wealthy ex-wife. She would first appear in the pilot episode.
In 2017 Henggeler co-starred in the movie FIXED. She plays the wife in this husband and wife romantic comedy about a vasectomy, a midlife crisis, and all the comedic action that goes along with it.
In 2019 she would play the role of Laura in Do Not Reply, a not-so-pleasant and harshly criticized movie about teens, social media, and abductions.
It is said to be a “ grim thriller about abducting and brainwashing kids”. Horror, suspense, violence… you get the picture.

Cobra Kai
Courtney is still acting and in 2018 Courtney would land her most prominent acting role as Amanda LaRusso, the wife of Daniel LaRusso in Netflix’s Cobra Kai series.
Before landing Cobra Kai, Courtney was ready to give up on Hollywood and her acting career. She mentioned that she had been acting since her twenties and her career wasn’t progressing any further and to top it off, she just had her son.
Although fully supportive of her decision, Courtney’s husband had asked her to hold off on quitting until a “plan B “ had been established due to their health insurance being through the Screen Actors Guild. Shortly there after she received the call up for Cobra Kai.
The show would go on to be an incredible hit for Netflix and has endured for 5 seasons so far and has been the second wind for Courtney’s career.
Courtney casually mentions that she occasionally gets hate mail from Cobra Kai fans for stealing Daniel LaRusso from Ali (Elizabeth Shue), his love interest in the original movie.
Fans are also critical of her parenting style on the show, with her hands off “cool parent” approach doesn’t resonate with a lot of the viewers.
Besides Cobra Kai, Courtney is set to star in a George Clooney directed movie entitled The Boys in the Boat. The movie is set in the 1930’s and is centered around the University of Washington’s men’s rowing team and how they navigate the depression era and winning the gold at the Berlin Olympics in 1936. She is staring in the movie with Joel Edgerton, Callum Turner and Hadley Robinson.
In 2020 Courtney took the helms as a writer and producer in a made for TV movie called The Secret Life of a Celebrity Surrogate. The movie aired on Lifetime and had mixed reviews.
Personal Life
In 2015 Courntey married actor and producer Ross Kohn. Kohn has worked as an actor but for the most part, his credits include directing one tv movie and producing 20 movies over the last decade with two more in post-production due to come out 2023.
Courtney and Ross have two children together. Her son, Oscar Noah Kohn was born in 2017 and the pair welcomed a daughter, Georgie Healy Kohn in 2019.
