Emmanuelle Vaugier - Two and a Half Men

Emmanuelle Vaugier is a Canadian actress, best known for her roles as Mia on Two and a Half Men and Dr. Helen Bryce on Smallville. What is she up to now?

Early Life

Vaugier was born in Vancouver, Canada on June 23rd, 1976. Her parents were French immigrants, so she grew up speaking primarily French in her family’s home.

She was raised with her older brother Jason in a religious, Roman Catholic household and attended Crofton House School, an all girls private school, for 10 years.

Vaugier began acting very young, after she was cast as an understudy in a grade school play. She ended up filling in for the lead actor of this play when they became ill. 

For her last two years of high school, Vaugier transferred to Magee Secondary School, which offers professional and pre-professional student athletes, artists, and musicians a more flexible academic program than that of a traditional high school.

Her first real career in the entertainment industry was as a model, which she did for 3 years in Japan.

Vaugier then made her acting debut in the 1995 TV movie drama, A Family Divided, in which she played the role of Rosalie Frank.

Throughout the late 90’s Vaugier continued to book roles in television and film, many of which were smaller appearances.

Some of her more notable roles included Esmerelda, in the tv movie The Halfback of Notre Dame, Veronica Bloom in the psychological thriller film Hysteria, and Noella D’Angelo, a recurring role on the Canadian teen drama series Madison.

Acting Career

Vaugier’s career really began taking off in the early 2000’s. She started to book much larger roles on shows and in movies.

Some of these more memorable roles were in the film 40 Days and 40 Nights, her appearance as Addison Corday in the Saw II and Saw IV movies, her recurring role of Dr. Helen Bryce on the well known Superman show, Smallville.

In addition to these appearances, Vaugier also played the recurring role of Nicki on the drama series One Tree Hill.

She then booked the role of Detective Jessica Angell on the police investigation show CSI: NY. Vaugier also played a character on the soap opera series Mistresses. 

Two and a Half Men

Arguably her most recognizable role was the character Mia on Two and a Half Men. She plays a love interest of Charlie’s in season 3 of the show.

Their relationship escalates until eventually they become engaged. They are about to get married when Mia asks about Alan moving out of the house.

Charlie then refuses to kick out Alan for Mia, so they break off the engagement. 

She later returns in season 5 of the show, when Charlie realizes he still has feelings for her, however at this point she is about to be married to another man.

Charlie still tries to win her back, but is instead punched in the face by Mia’s father Sam. 

In season 6, Mia returns, revealing she has separated from her husband. When Allen shares this information with Charlie, he becomes nervous.

He struggles with being in love with his current girlfriend Chelsea while also wrestling with his unresolved feelings for Mia. Vaugier continues to make appearances as the character Mia throughout the later seasons of the show.

The reception of Mia’s character was not so great. Aside from Chelsea, she was pretty much the only other long-term girlfriend of Charlie’s in the show.

any fans were found annoyed with this woman, and were actually grateful when she left.

Fans described her as controlling, sassy, and pretty selfish, stating that she changed Charlie too much and too quickly. 

She was one of the many recurring guest on the show along with April Bowlby, Melanie Lynskey, Jennifer Taylor, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Brooke D’Orsay, Kelly Stables, and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe.

Vaugier can certainly still be seen acting in more recent movies and television such as her brief appearance in the CW show Supergirl and the Hallmark television movie Big Sky River.

She has also done voice acting for a number of video games, including Dying Light and Hellraid.

More recently, in 2020 she sold her home, located in Hollywood Hills, for a listing price of a whopping $1.6 million.

Back when she was on the show, Vaugier dated the Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre, however the two split after she found out that he was cheating on her. Following this, Vaugier dated Sean Penn briefly.

Vaugier has a noticeable love and interest in animals. She took up horseback riding in 2010, and placed third when she entered into a Burbank, CA, horse show.

She is additionally involved with animal protection organizations including JIMI’S Angels and Best Friends Animal Society.

Vaugier also founded the Fluff-ball Foundation, an animal fundraiser event, to provide support to various animal rescue organizations across the country.
