After these roles, she began appearing in films such as the 2014 romantic fantasy Winter’s Tale, again playing small background characters. She additionally appeared as Flo Bai in the romcom The Rewrite, starring Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei.
Acting Career
One of Geha’s more notable roles was in the 2015 comedy sequel movie Ted 2, where she played the female nurse who aids Mark Wahlburg’s character John while in his coma.
Following this, she booked the minor role of Paula in the romcom movie In Stereo, and the character Gale, in the 2016 thriller romance The Harrow.
Arguably, her most notable role was that of a young Poison Ivy on the Fox series Gotham.
Gotham
Originally airing in 2014, the series Gotham follows Ben McKenzie’s character, James ‘Jim’ Gordon as a new member on the Gotham City Police Department force, and his partner Donal Logue’s character Harvey Bullock The timeline of this show begins with the murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents, showing the origin stories of both Batman’s infamous heroes and its villains.
Ivy Pepper, the young Poison Ivy, is depicted as an orphan. Her father Mario, an abusive partner and guardian, was framed for Thomas and Martha Wayne’s murders, and was shot and killed after trying to attack Gordon with a knife. Her mother Alice commit suicide after Mario’s death. These events lead Ivy to befriend Selina Kyle, the young Catwoman.
Recasting of Poison Ivy
The role of Ivy in Gotham is originally portrayed by actress Clare Folley, for seasons 1 through 3.
In the third season, the writers wanted to bring the character closer to her portrayal in the comics, and did this through Fish Mooney’s henchman Marv – who can age people through touch alone. After Marv briefly touches Ivy, she ages about a decade.
This older version of Poison Ivy is played by Geha. While her character still has the mind of a teenager, she uses her new, more mature looks and pheromone scent, which allows her to seduce people into doing anything she pleases, to rob Gotham’s wealthiest, Bruce Wayne included.
Poison Ivy later teams up with Oswald Cobblepot, the Penguin after she saves his life, but in Gotham’s season 4, she undergoes yet another transformation. She ingests some mythical potions, which ends up putting her in a cocoon. When Ivy emerges from the cocoon, she is played by actress Peyton List.
The creators of the show explained the second recasting of the character as wanting to move away from the more comedic version played by Geha.
They wanted to shift Poison Ivy into a scarier, more ruthless character, one who is obsessed with making the world a greener place and can poison people with just a mere scratch.
