Rising star Sara Klimoska has captivated audiences with her emotive performances across theater, television, and film. Though the Macedonian actress is just beginning to make waves abroad, she boasts an impressive resume. Before turning to acting, Klimoska was an avid dancer and choreographer. She spent years volunteering with the Red Cross and directing plays on social issues. Since her 2015 film debut, Klimoska has undertaken diverse roles—from a troubled teen to a 16-year-old orphan. 1. Sara was born in Macedonia
Born on 27 July 1994, Sara hails from the picturesque town of Struga, Macedonia. She lived in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 1995 until 1999, and then she moves to Ohrid, Macedonia. Nestled by the shores of Lake Ohrid, this scenic locale was the backdrop to her early life, possibly shaping her profound artistic depth.
2. Sara is a dancer
Before stepping into the limelight as an actress, Sara was deeply immersed in the world of dance. She started dancing when she was only 6 years old and showcased her skills in modern ballet and hip-hop, proving that her artistic talents span a wide spectrum.
She has worked as a choreographer and also as the director of a choreo-drama. In 2010 she directed the play “Drugs kill – speak up” and in 2012 she directed “How they ruined my childhood”.
However, her passion for storytelling and character portrayal led her to the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Skopje, where she embarked on her journey into the world of acting. This transition has indeed been a fruitful one, as Sara has managed to carve out a successful career in the entertainment industry.
3. She has spent years working with the Red Cross
She volunteered at the Red Cross from 2006 until 2010, taking part in the RCA-PHV projects. “Red Cross in Action-Promotion of Human Values” (RCA-PHV) is a Macedonian Red Cross project whose goal is inclusion of young people form different ethnic belonging in mutual projects for development of the common understanding, tolerance and culture of dialog.
During the projects she was also involved in theatrical performances based on the principle of the forum theatre.
4. Her first movie role was in 2015
She had a supporting role in the short film “Birthday” directed by Kosara Mitic. Her character’s name is Jana.
She then went on to another supporting role as the girlfriend of the main character in the feature film “Nameless” directed by Vardan Tozija.
5.Sara has also worked in commercials
While Sara’s primary passion lies in acting, she has also dabbled in other ventures. She was involved in a TV commercial for Skopsko beer, directed by the acclaimed Milco Mancevski, showcasing her adaptability in different entertainment mediums.

Sara is known for her roles in movies such as “Willow”, a movie about three women’s journey to become mothers where she plays Donka, and “Things Unsaid” where she plays a troubled teenager that disturbs the fragile balance of a married couple when she moves in to stay with them for couple of days.
7. Sara plays a 16 year old in “Lena and Vladimir”
“Lena and Vladimir” is one of Sara’s most anticipated projects. Directed by Igor Aleksov and penned by Aleksandar Rusjakov, the movie tells the story of Vladimir, played by Toni Naumovski, a forty-year-old man who has lost all of his love and Lena, a sixteen-year-old girl from an orphanage who has never had one. They help each other to rediscover their love for life.
8. She worked in theatre while living in France
Sara’s talents aren’t confined to the silver screen. She ventured into international theatre with a performance in Cannes, bringing to life the script “Winter Solstice” by renowned German writer Ronald Shimmaphening.
The play was an international theatre project with very talented actors from England, Hungary, France and Sara from Macedonia. It took place at the Alexander III theatre in Cannes.
9. She’s one of Macedonia’s film referents

10. Sara has showcased her acting prowess in TV series, including a children’s show
She played the character Elena Nasteva in the 2022 TV series “Mocvara” and Jana in the 2019-2020 TV series “Black Sun.”
Her longest TV show was a children’s show called “Five Plus Family”, about an imaginary skyscraper where Petko the dog and his friends Lina, Komsho, Komshito, Luka, Ana (played by Sara), Marija and others go through various situations and experience adventures related to the kids’ everyday interests, problems, dreams and hopes. The show had 6 seasons and also included live shows.
