Judie Aronson was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 7th, 1964. This 5’ 5” (1.65 m) actress has been active from 1983 through 2006. Following a brief break, she returned in 2016 and works to this day.
She was born the fourth of five daughters and is known for he love of singing and dancing; she began her career at a young age. She is of Jewish descent, as she is the granddaughter of Rabbi David Aronson, who was president of the Rabbinical Assembly of America.
After high school, Judie attended UCLA and was apart of Tim Robbins actor’s gang, which included Lee Arenberg, Ned Bellamy, Daphne Zuniga, Amy Resnick and Kerry Noonan.
Acting Career
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
Her first credited role was an appearance on an episode of The Powers of Matthew Star in 1983. She would also appear in an episode of Simon & Simon that same year. However, in 1984 she landed one of her most notable roles in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.
Her death scene in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter proved particularly traumatic as she was filming a scene in a lake in December in freezing cold weather.
The situation had become so bad that Ted White, the stuntman playing the killer, threatened to quit if director Joseph Zito did not provide her with a break from the ice-cold water. She ended up getting hypothermia from the scene.
Weird Science
In 1985 she would play the part of ‘Hilly’, the love interest of ‘Wyatt’ in the teen comedy Weird Science. She filled that role with Suzanne Snyder, opposite stars Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith.
Judie mentioned in an interview that she is still very good friends with her costar, Suzanne Snyder.
American Ninja
That same year she would be cast in the action film American Ninja. The movie stars Michael Dudikoff, who single-handedly takes on an army of mercenaries in South East Asia. The movie has gone on to become a cult classic for being remarkably bad.
In a video that she posted online, Judy recalls that while filming the movie she almost accidentally ate dog meat, which was intended for the Filipino production crew.
The Pursuit of Happiness
In 1987 she landed a leading role in the sitcom The Pursuit of Happiness. The show ran for one season. She played the character Sara Duncan. The shows centers around a young law professor who butts heads with an older faculty member who is stuck in their ways.
The Sleeping Car
In 1990 she was one of the leads, with David Naughton, in the horror film The Sleeping Car.
In 1992 she played the lead female role in the action drama Desert Kickboxer, led by John Newton.
Most of her work in the following years, up and into her retirement, were single episode appearances on television shows or smaller scenes or characters in films.
For example, she appeared in three episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210, between 1991 to 1998, in addition to an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent in 2001. She also appeared in the films Hannibal (2001) and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), but these were more minor unnamed roles.
Around 2006 she retired from acting to attend UCLA and started acting again in 2016.
