Brooke D’Orsay is a Canadian actress who has enjoyed numerous roles in television and film. Her most notable roles include portraying Paige Lawson on Royal Pains and two different roles, as Robin and as Kate, on the television series Two and a Half Men.
D’Orsay was born on February 17, 1982 in Toronto, Canada. Her parents are Jackie D’Orsay and William D’Orsay. She has one brother named John.
Her family name is Huguenot French in origin.
Early Life
D’Orsay was competitive in gymnastics from when she was five to when she was seventeen years old. Her gymnastics skills helped her get a role on her first commercial since she was able to land a backflip.
Acting Career
D’Orsay started her acting career as a member of the Toronto-based improv troupe Trailervision and would appear in several minor roles on television shows.
She appeared as Ellen in Doc, Justine in Soul Food, and Felicity Fury in a few episodes of Ace Lighting.
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
In 2004, D’Orsay played Clarissa in the buddy comedy Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. In the movie, Clarissa is a student at Princeton who, along with a friend played by Kate Kelton, agrees to smoke weed with Kumar, played by Kal Penn.
D’Orsay’s castmates included John Cho, Ethan Embry, Christopher Meloni, Anthony Anderson, and Fred Willard to name a few.
King’s Ransom
In the following year, D’Orsay landed a role in the comedy King’s Ransom. In the film, Malcom King, played by Anthony Anderson, stages his own kidnapping and ransom in order to keep his money safe from his soon to be ex-wife.
D’Orsay plays Brooke Mayo and features alongside Regina Hall, Charlie Murphy, and Donald Faison.
The Big Bang Theory
D’Orsay played Christy in one episode of The Big Bang Theory entitled “The Dumpling Box” in 2007.
It’s a Boy Girl Thing
In 2006, D’Orsay played Breanna Bailey in the romantic comedy It’s a Boy Girl Thing. The movie is about former childhood friends who wake up in each other’s bodies.
6teen
6teen is an animated comedy aimed at preteens and children. The show aired from 2004 to 2011 and chronicles the lives of six 16-year-old friends, with its events mainly taking place in a shopping mall.
D’Orsay voices one of the main characters, Caitlin Cook, who loves to shop and becomes friends with the other characters.
Gary Unmarried
In Season 2 of Gary Unmarried, D’Orsay had a main role as Sasha, a pretty radio station manager. The sitcom, which ran on CBS from 2008 to 2010, also starred Jay Mohr and Keegan-Michael Key.
Drop Dead Diva
In 2009, D’Orsay had a recurring role as Deb Donkins in the Lifetime television series Drop Dead Diva. The show is about a woman named Jane who is a plus size lawyer whose body becomes inhabited by the soul Deb, a vapid fashion model who is killed in a car accident.
Royal Pains
D’Orsay starred in 55 episodes of USA Network comedy-drama Royal Pains. She plays Paige Lawson in Seasons 2 through 8.
Paige is Evan’s wife. Although Paige’s father initially believes that Evan is not good enough for her, she and Evan, played by Paul Costanzo, marry anyway at the end of Season 4.
Two and a Half Men
D’Orsay had two separate roles on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men. In Season 4, she played Robin, while in Season 10 she played Kate.
In the episode “Young People Have Phlegm Too,” D’Orsay plays Robin, who has a one-night stand with Charlie Sheen.
In Season 10, D’Orsay stars as Kate for seven episodes as Ashton Kutcher’s ex-girlfriend and main love interest. Their relationship is up and down, and they ultimately break up due to the differences in their schedules.
On the Two and Half Men subreddit on Reddit, most fans did not have much to say about the character of Robin or Kate but were distracted by the fact that both were played by the same actress.
