After 12 seasons of “Will Penny and Leonard get back together?”, the cast and crew said a final good-bye in May 2019.
So much of their professional lives went into those 12 years, only for us to put down the remote and ask, “What are they doing now?”
They ended up as 3 married couples and one lonely- still looking for love, Raj. Now let’s see where they all rank upon climbing their post-show career ladders.
7th – Johnny Galecki
Not much has happened for Johnny since the closing episode of The Big Bang Theory. He did sport a role as Henry in a 2019 family comedy/drama film called A Dog’s Journey.
As for his showing in TV comedies, he makes an appearance in 4 episodes of The Connors, but as less of a comedic sight and more of a dramatic entrance as a returning ex-husband, playing opposite Darlene Connor. You may know her better as Leonard’s short-lived girlfriend, Leslie Winkle, from the Big Bang Theory.
6th – Simon Helberg
Sticking close to his cast family even after the season finale, Simon continues to work with Parsons with voice overs in Young Sheldon in 2021. He and Melissa, former TV show wife, collaborated on the making and starring of a movie drama As They Made Us debuting in 2022.
His movie appearances include a musical drama called Annette in 2021 and his newest appearance in Space Oddity (2022), where he plays Dimitri.
Taking to the physical stage in 2021, he played in a theatrical production of The Murder on the Link, playing Captain Hasting.
Off screen, Simon was the voice of Squirrel in the TV short series Dug Days (2021), a sequel from the movie Up. His most recent work is on the TV show Poker Face.
5th – Kunal Nayyar
Kunal doesn’t share the same shy demeanor as Raj did, and off to the movies he went shortly after closing the finale on The Big Bang Theory. His movie roles include Sweetness in the Belly (2019), Trolls 2: World Tour, voicing Guy Diamond, and Think Like a Dog (both in 2020).
From late 2020-2022 he shifted back to the TV scene with appearances in Criminal: UK, Trolls Holiday in Harmony, again voicing Guy Diamond, Mira, Royal Detective, and Suspicion.
Currently, Kunal has moved back into the movie spotlight in The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, Spaceman (post-production), and How to Date Billy Walsh (post-production).
4th – Melissa Rauch
In keeping with the comedic spirit, Melissa starred as Melanie in The Laundromat and voiced Gwen the Cat in the kid’s comedy movie, Cats & Dogs 3: Paws Unite in 2020.
She also did voice overs in the TV short series called Robot Chicken (2019), Animaniacs (2020), The Chicken Squad (2021-22) and Firebuds (2022).
Currently, Melissa is starring as Abby Stone in the revival of the 80’s TV show Night Court. It is in pre-production and set to launch in January next year.
3rd – Jim Parsons
Jim has continued playing in both movies and TV shows since the ending of The Big Bang Theory.
In 2019, he played Larry Simpson in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile and in 2020, Michael in The Boys in the Band.
2020 was a busy year for Jim, as he also starred in a mini-series Hollywood, earning him a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
He also voiced Frinkcoin on The Simpsons, all while continuing to be the voice-over on the currently running tv show Young Sheldon- a spin off of The Big Bang Theory.
His recently released movie Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies is set to release in December this year.
Currently, he is working pre-production on a movie Just by Looking at Him, which he will play Ethan.
2nd – Mayim Bialik
Miss Mayim has certainly kept busy in the TV sitcom world after saying good-bye to the Big Bang Theory series.
In 2020, she is the voice of Dr. Gem Jeodopolis in a TV short series called Vampirina. She also started working with Big Bang Theory husband and co-star Jim Parsons as well as Simon Helberg as a voice over on Young Sheldon and currently continues that role.
In ’21, she branched out and got her own sitcom TV series called Call Me Kat, which she also executive produced with Jim Parsons and which aired on Fox. She also spent some time as host of the TV game show Jeopardy!
In 2022, Mayim worked again with The Big Bang Theory co-star Simon Helberg, directing As They Made Us.
Currently, she is working on The Inspector Chronicles, where she will be the voice of The B.O.O.T.H.
1st – Kaley Cuoco
She stole our hearts almost as quickly as Leonard decided their babies would be both smart AND beautiful, and her success didn’t stop there.
Shortly after finishing the The Big Bang Theory finale in May, she went on to be the voice of the Harley Quinn character in the 2-season animated tv series Harley Quinn, of which she was the executive producer.
The blonde bombshell earned a 2021 Golden Globe Nomination for her role in tv series, The Flight Attendant, a show she was also executive producer.
Continuing, on a smaller scale, Kaley also popped up on a few episodes of comedy sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2021.
In June of ’22, Kaley graced the big screen again in the move The Man from Toronto.
And she doesn’t show signs of slowing down by the looks of her current screenplay plate.
Her most current roles include Kaley playing Shelia in Meet Cute- a romantic comedy released in Sept ’22 and Role Play- a thriller movie set to release in 2023.
There you have it, readers. Who is doing what post Big Bang Theory, and how they are ranked. Do you agree with the list or would you put them in a different order?
