Eugene Bostick may just be the coolest 80 year old ever. After retiring 15 years ago he began a new venture which is possibly his most impactful work yet.
Shortly after retirement he built his very own train to take stray dogs on small adventures around the neighbourhood and surrounding woods, this is when he began his new role as a train conductor for strays.
Eugene is now dedicating his life to caring for and bringing some joy these strays who are left abandoned in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.
When Mark and Lindsey had their baby boy, Cason, one of their loved ones sent a group text message to let a few friends know about the birth — but it turns out that one of the phone numbers no longer belonged to someone they knew.
Once everyone else in the group message realized what was going on, they laughed and apologized to the stranger for getting him caught up in the baby birthing news, but the man ended up surprising everyone…
In December of 2018, photographer Wesley White went to Thatch Caye in Belize for a work trip. With very little free time on his hands, Wesley was looking forward to kayaking to a tiny island in Thatch Caye. When he arrived at the island, he noticed that there was a puppy walking into a deserted fishing shack. “Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his tail wagging,” Wesley said during an interview with The Dodo. Sadly, the dog was starving to death, and would soon perish if Wesley didn’t do something to help.
When Christian McPhilamy was six years old, he was inspired by a commercial for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and decided he wanted to help young people with cancer. He decided that day that he wanted to grow his hair long and donate it to make wigs for children with cancer.
So for 2 and a half years, Christian grew his hair out. He was made fun of at school for it, often mistaken for a girl, but that never deterred him from doing what he thought was right.
“Even out and about or at a park, he would be playing with a bunch of boys and they’d be like, ‘you look like a girl.’ And he would just explain to them. He held his head high and he never once said that he wanted to cut it off ever,” Christian’s mom said.
Paningning is a 2-month-old black-and-white Shih Tzu, who has become an internet famous thanks to her very odd sleeping position. While most dogs curl up on their sides or sleep flat-out on their stomachs, Paningning likes to sleep on her back like a human!
